Cona Anwer, DVM, DACVIM

Dr. Anwer is a board-certified veterinary neurologist/neurosurgeon.

A Massachusetts native, Dr. Cona Anwer completed her DVM with thesis at Tufts University where she earned the Award for Excellence in Feline Medicine. Dr. Anwer went on to complete a one-year medical and surgical rotating internship at the University of Pennsylvania, a one-year neurology/neurosurgery internship at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital of San Diego, and a three-year neurology/neurosurgery residency at the University of California, Davis. In 2013, she became board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine Specialty of Neurology and obtained her Certificate of Neurosurgery Training. Having lived and worked in California for over 10 years, she was very excited to return to her home state!

Dr. Anwer treats both dogs and cats, but she has a strong passion for feline medicine. She feels cats are often underdiagnosed and misdiagnosed because they try their best to hide their problems whenever they visit their veterinarian. By spending extra time observing them, and with the help of videos from home, she can gain a better understanding of where their problem may lie and the best way to approach a diagnosis.

She also has a love of neurosurgery and enjoys collaborating with colleagues to explore new surgical techniques. By always keeping up with new ideas, Dr. Anwer can offer her patients more options and better outcomes.

What Dr. Anwer enjoys the most is working with pets and their families to find the best diagnostic and treatment options for their unique clinical picture. She wants to make sure that her clients always understand what is happening with their pet and why we are making our recommendations.

When she is not at the hospital, Dr. Anwer enjoys spending time with her family and her newly adopted cat Dougie.

He completed a one-year small animal rotating internship at New England Animal Medical Center in West Bridgewater, MA, followed by one-year oncology internship at the Animal Cancer Care Clinic of Fort Lauderdale, FL. Dr. Segaloff then did a three year oncology residency at Bay Area Vet Specialists in San Leandro, CA. In 2011, Dr. Segaloff joined the oncology team at VCA as a Medical Oncology resident and stayed there for a decade. He joined our team in October of 2022 and has become a valuable addition.
